Economic Multipliers (169)

Do you know what these are?

They help CREATE wealth in systems.

Knowing how ‘smart’ a nation’s citizens are is an economic multiplier for any nation.

Riding on a bus one day, I crossed paths with an individual who runs a small business. In the process of chatting, he mentioned he had a grandchild. He also mentioned that his grandchild was ‘perfectly normal.’ I believe he told me that because he had passed through the educational system’s lane for slower learners (he also shared that).

I commented on the quality of his work that I had observed in occasionally passing and pondered a bit about my own assumptions about intelligence.

Imagine an individual …

… who is soft-spoken, easily gets along with others and would never go looking for a fight or willfully try to harm others …

… who finished high school in spite of ‘challenges,’ got married and had children …

… who, to my knowledge, always shows up to do his work neatly dressed and in a timely manner, responds readily to clients needs and works at a measured pace reflective of consistent, high quality work …

… who runs his own business and has for years …

… who seems to be extraordinarily kind and loving (a lucky wife and kids?) …

Imagine also an individual …

… who worries about what others and possibly even his ‘normal’ grandchild think of him …

I was in a different lane in the educational system and yet he seems in so many ways a lot ‘smarter’ than me.

I hope his ‘normal’ grandchild will be able to see that too.
